Therefore, as an AP student, these tips and methods I find to be essential to excel in this course.

Primarily to achieve grade 12 biology success, I will begin by thoroughly understanding the curriculum and syllabus. It involves becoming well-acquainted with key concepts, topics, and learning objectives outlined in the course. To complete this step, I tend to go to YouTube, where I can find well-summarized videos of the overall content that this subject is composed of. Thus, this initial step sets the stage for organized study sessions and lays a solid foundation consisting of basic background knowledge.
Exposure to Material Before Class
Before going into class, it is always best to read the slides. Firstly, I usually go over the fundamentals of the lesson to get an idea of the terms and basic concepts. However, if slides are unavailable, diversifying resources can also improve understanding of lessons. For example, textbooks, online articles, instructional websites, and video lectures offer a clear understanding of complicated topics with often great explanations. The combination of these materials comes in handy when trying to approach points from a variety of perspectives. More specifically, Youtube channels like CrashCourse, Bozeman Science, and Khan Academy are what I find most helpful when trying to have a better grasp of a specific topic. Thus, this routine enables me to engage more deeply during lectures.
The Power of Spaced Repetition
A well-structured study schedule is the backbone of effective learning; thus, it is crucial to break down content into smaller segments (allocate enough time for each topic), as cramming for tests often leads to limited retention. Therefore, spacing out review sessions is a powerful technique to avoid procrastination and enhance memory retention. Apps like RemNote facilitate creating customized flashcards, as I can simultaneously type my class notes while it automatically generates spaced repetition schedules with the click of two buttons. This strategy minimizes study stress and test anxiety while fostering a deeper understanding of the content. With this, periodic reviews and regularly revisiting notes prevents the forgetting curve. Hence, I conduct an end-of-day review before sleep, as it helps consolidate the knowledge gained throughout the day and fosters a greater notion by linking ideas with a clear mind. In conclusion, spaced repetition boosts the likelihood of an individual learning knowledge that is transferable to different situations, decreases the amount of time spent on study sessions overall, and aids one’s memory by keeping the material fresh in their mind through active recall.
